Διάλεξη με τίτλο "Design In and Out of the Vitrine: Museums and Exhibitions in Nineteenth Century Vienna" του Eric Anderson [05/04/2017]

Σας προσκαλούμε στη διάλεξη του Eric Anderson, καθηγητή Ιστορίας της Τέχνης στο Rhode Island School of Design των ΗΠΑ, την Τετάρτη 5 Απριλίου, στις 18.30, στο Αμφιθέατρο των ‘Χώρων’ (4ος όροφος Τοσίτσα).

Η διάλεξη έχει τίτλο:  «Design In and Out of the Vitrine: Museums and Exhibitions in Nineteenth Century Vienna» (Design Εντός και Εκτός Βιτρίνας: Μουσεία και Εκθέσεις στη Βιέννη του Δέκατου Ένατου Αιώνα).

Viennese design culture around 1870 was transformed by new modes of display. Focusing on the city's pioneering Museum for Art and Industry and touching as well on concurrent fairs, parades, and other venues, this talk considers multiple exhibition strategies, from the systematic rigor of vitrines and taxonomies to the performative scenography of model interiors and other types of staged display. To fully understand the origins of the design museum, the talk argues, we must recognize an interplay between curators' scientific reform strategies and consumers' experiences of leisure, fantasy, and desire.

Την επίσκεψη και τις διαλέξεις του σε Αθήνα και Θεσσαλονίκη οργανώνουν η Εταιρεία Ελλήνων Ιστορικών της Τέχνης και το Ίδρυμα Fulbright, σε συνεργασία με το Τμήμα Αρχιτεκτόνων Μηχανικών του ΑΠΘ στη Θεσσαλονίκη και τη Σχολή Αρχιτεκτόνων του ΕΜΠ στην Αθήνα.
