  • The urban condition,  public space, the commons, architecture and the political.

His work addresses aspects of sustainability, spatial expressions of the commons, in architecture and social structures, alternative communities, future alternatives, systems, complexity, and participation. His critical research “Imagining alternative futures for Ports in transition” assembling a group of researchers and activists worldwide formed part of the official program of Habitat III (10/2016, Quito).

As a Prometeo Researcher, (IAEN, Quito, Ecuador, 3-12/2014) he contributed with policy papers for the FLOK Society project and he conducted research on sustainability, Buen Vivir and the management of the commons, and their impact on urban environments. Has served as President of the Marathon National Park in Greece, and Initiated the first Erasmus+ collaboration beyond Europe (8-10/2016), with the MDUT unit of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE) and realized together with two NTUA students and a multi-disciplinary team a workshop in the earthquake-struck community of Chamanga on the Pacific coast. During that time he represented NTUA at the Uni-Habitat3 event (17-20/10/2016, Quito). 

Member of the P2P Foundation,  co-founder of the not-for-profit organization TREE, and has been involved in activist movements on the commons worldwide, a topic for which he has lectured and written widely. Has also taught at Parsons School of Design, Department of Architecture and Environmental Design, the New School for Social Research (NYC) and at Patras University.
