The deformable body. Basic concepts. The normal stress and strain. Design methodology of bearing structures. Safety factors. Uniformly distributed stresses of tension, compression and shear. The stress field of a beam caused by torsion, axial forces and/or uniaxial or bi-axial bending moment, shearing forces, or the combination of the previous internal forces and moments. The buckling of columns.
