Sotirios Kotsopoulos contributes to the research area of computational design. He examines shape computation and the associations of form, structure, and performance in architecture. 

As faculty at the School of Architecture of the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and a research associate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Sotirios teaches courses on Shape Grammars, History and Logic of Computational Systems and courses on geometric and topological aspects for form. In parallel, Sotirios conducts interdisciplinary research on the applications of networked technologies, new materials and Artificial Intelligence in sustainable architecture at a building and urban scale.

From MIT, Sotirios received his PhD in Design and Computation and S.M.Arch.S. in Design Technology. Under a Fulbright Scholarship, he received an M. Arch degree from the Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc). He also holds a Diploma in Architecture Engineering from NTUA.
