Associate Professor

Dr. Architect Urban Planner, Associate Professor of Urban Design at the School of Architecture, NTUA. Director of the Department ‘Urban & Regional Planning’ in the period 2019-2021 and member of the Urban Planning Research Lab. Since 2010 he has been teaching studios of urban and landscape design in the 7th-9th semesters as well as the postgraduate program in urban and regional planning. His research revolves around metropolitan planning policy themes, such as urban competitiveness and sprawl, governance of large-scale urban projects, value capture and epistemological issues of urban design with focus on Athens. He has authored the book “In the traces of the Mediterranean City: Urbanism, Planning and Governance of the Athenian Metropolis (in Greek). He has been involved as a Consultant in major urban development projects such as the regeneration of Athens waterfront for the 2004 Olympics, King Abdullah Park in Amman and complex tourism and housing development projects in the Middle East. In the period 2009-2017 he was involved in the preparation of urban plans in Albania, first as an international expert with the World Bank and then as team leader of consulting schemes. Since 2017, he has been cooperating with the Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama for the requalification of the coastline of Vlore with a total length of 11km. In 2018 he was responsible for the research project "Planning Strategy and Priority Interventions for the Revitalization and Activation of Lycabettus", the landmark hill, for the Municipality of Athens under the 100 Resilient Cities program.
