The Introduction to Architectural Synthesis 2 is an integral part of the course offered in the 1st semester. Taking advantage of the experiences and knowledge gained in the 1st semester, the students are invited to produce a small-scale architectural composition that complements the introduction to the fundamental concepts of architectural synthesis. This exploration situates architectural synthesis into the real space, aiming to introduce students the problems of context, i.e. the natural and the urban environment. The design exploration of a small building integrates the interpretation of the history, the identity and the natural environment of the place it belongs. This course contributes to the understanding of all the fundamental aspects of the Architectural Synthesis such as: form, context, value light, experience, movement, function, space, spatial relationships, material, and construction principles.
