The selective course intends to investigate urban housing issues and terms such as “settlement”, “lived space”, “place”, in relation to historical background, ideological, social and economic context. Moreover, the course explores matters concerning man-made environment and urban space in contrast to natural landscapes. Finally, the course focuses on the phenomenon of “polukatoikia” (apartment building in Greek terms) and “antiparoxi” that influenced the structure and image of Greek cities and explores significant examples of relevant architectural projects.
